Description and Contextualization of the SubjectToggle Navigation

Language DIII: Arabic Language is a 6-credit elective subject included in different degrees: Philology, English Studies, Basque Studies and Translation and Interpretation.

It is a subject that contributes to the training of students to expand their knowledge for their future professional practice.

Learning the Arabic language does not only involve knowledge of a new language but is related to other objectives: acquiring awareness of the multiculturalism of the society in which we live, understanding the culture of other countries, so close to us and so far away. at the same time and achieve integration and equality.

Skills/Learning outcomes of the subjectToggle Navigation

Deepen the development of the linguistic competence of the standard Arabic language that the student has started by taking the subjects "Arabic Language I and II". Deepen your knowledge of basic verbal morphology, both regular and irregular. The student must be able to correctly analyze the texts of the Arabic language in both their nominal and verbal morphological aspects. You will practice fluency in reading, understanding and vocabulary of the Arabic language. After completing this level, the student must be able to read, translate and write texts in the Arabic language.

Theoretical and practical contentToggle Navigation

1.- Morphosyntax II: The verb.

2.- The verb: Accidents of the verb: Voice (agentive and non-agentive). Aspect (perfective and imperfective). Modes (indicative, subjunctive, jussive or apocopate). Imperative. Person. Gender. Number.

3.- Forms derived from verbs

4.- Irregular verbs: Hamzed, voiceless, assimilated, concave verbs. Verb kana, Defective roots.

5.- Verbal sentences: coordinated, subordinate, complex, negative, interrogative, exclamatory (vocative).

6.- Gradual translation of vocalized, semivocalized and non-vocalized texts.

For its study and learning, a cooperative methodology will be used in classes with the use of didactic strategies appropriate to the level of this course that allows students to acquire the necessary skills.

Final exam (100%)

The work done in class throughout the semester will be taken into account, as well as the translations made and the level acquired.

The minimum grade to pass the subject will be a 5 in the final exam.

The same guidelines as the ordinary call will be followed.
