This subject is offered in the last undergraduate course and is optional. Students have so far received extensive training in translation practices, which will be helpful for this subject, but on this occasion we will focus on a linguistic direction not worked so far.

The general objectives to be addressed in this area shall be:

- To work on the problems and difficulties that characterize the Basque-Spanish language combination.

- To learn solving translation problems by working with several non-specialized and specialized texts.

- To deepen in the translation techniques and in the translation process of non-specialized texts.

- To revise and correct translations and assess their quality.

Skills:

These are the transversal and specific skills that we will develop in the subject Translation Practices: Euskera-Castellano:

M04CM01: Itzulpeneko bi hizkuntzen eta haien kulturen eta konbentzio testual eta komunikatiboen ezagutza kontrastiboa.

M04CM02: Sorburu-hizkuntzako (SH) testuak aztertzeko eta egoki interpretatzeko gaitasuna.

M04CM03: Nola sorburu-hizkuntzan (SH) hala xede-hizkuntzan (XH) komunikatzeko eta testuak ekoizteko gaitasuna.M04CM01: Conocimiento contrastivo de las lenguas parejas de traducción y sus respectivas culturas y convenciones

gestión de proyectos, así como de los aspectos económicos y prácticos de la profesión.

- LO2: Analyze the characteristics of the source language in specialized and non-specialized texts.

- LO3: Identify and analyze the differences between source and target language, both linguistically and stylistically (M04CM01, G008).

- LO4: Create correct, comprehensible and autonomous texts in the target language (M04CM03, G007).

- LO5: Analyze, work on and develop translation strategies for each type of text (M04M02, M04CM04, M04CM05, G007, G010).

- LO6: Learn to consult, select and manage the tools (terminology and documentation tools, memories, automatic translators) for each type of text (M04CM04, M04CM05, G007).

- LO7: Learn to evaluate with a critical perspective translations made by oneself or others (M04CM01, M04CM02, M04CM04, M04CM07).

- LO8: Learn to apply revision and proofreading criteria necessary to correct a text, in order to help improve the text for the author (either oneself, A CLASSMATE or other professionals).

- Contact languages and linguistic interference: characteristics of the translation of a minority language into a hegemonic language.

- Implementation of the strategies and techniques required in specific contexts.

- Analysis of the translations carried out: detection of problems and proposal of possible solutions.

- Correction and self-correction of translations.

- Analysis and use of available technological and documentary resources.

- Management and good command of translation tools.

The course is based on practical classes, where students will actively participate through their daily work. Individual and group exercises will be carried out, so that students will be able to face the specific difficulties of translating texts written in Basque into Spanish. In order to achieve this objective, it is necessary to use an appropriate style in the Spanish language at all times.

In order to achieve the objectives of the course, it is necessary that the students prepare the exercises and translations at home beforehand and then share them in class.

The evaluation system specified in this guide assesses the above learning outcomes and skills. The evaluation system will be continuous. Students must complete the assignments distributed throughout the term.

If a student decides not to follow the continuous evaluation, he/she will communicate it in writing to the teacher within the first 9 weeks of the course. Whoever renounces to the continuous evaluation will have to take a final test that will evaluate 80% of the grade. The test will have different sections and the deadline and criteria for each one will be communicated via email. In this final test the students will be able to use the material used during the course in the subject (exercises and assignments of the course, notes or electronic resources). The remaining 20% of the grade of the final evaluation system will be completed through the completion of an individual work, which will have to be delivered within the deadline established for the ordinary call of the continuous evaluation system. It will be essential to pass this assignment in order to pass the course. Details and deadlines for the work will be published in egela in due time.

The extraordinary exam will be based on exercises through which 100% of the course will be graded. The test will have different sections and the deadline and criteria for each one will be communicated via egela.
