Acquired skills
These are the main competences for which this degree will qualify you:
- The ability to communicate. Organised expression both orally and in writing to ensure it is made from a position of respect for fundamental rights and of equal opportunities for men and women, as well as the promotion of human rights and the specific values of a culture of peace and democracy.
- To analyse and assess the social and environmental impact of technical solutions, as well as occupational risk prevention both on land and at sea, upholding a commitment to the environment.
- To be capable of working as a Marine Engineer in the Merchant Navy or as a Marine Engineer at any onshore industrial facility, once the requirements of the corresponding authorities have been met.
- To be capable of working in a team, in a multilingual and multidisciplinary environment, upholding respect for basic rights and equal opportunities for men and women, as well as guaranteeing universal accessibility. Be capable of drafting reports for the disclosure of knowledge and results. The ability to learn and continuously refresh one's knowledge.
- To comfortably handle specifications, manuals, regulations and rules of mandatory compliance.
- To resolve problems with initiative, decision-making, creativity, critical reasoning, as well as reporting and conveying knowledge, skills and abilities.
- To supervise, manage and organise the activities required for the proper operation of a vessel's Energy and Propulsion installations, as well as those aspects related to onshore Industrial Maintenance. The ability to draft and manage projects.
- To understand the basic subjects and technologies to enable students to learn new methods and theories, as well as instil in them the considerable versatility required to adapt to new situations.
- To understand the organisation of companies. Know how to organise, plan and manage departments with human and material resources.
- To undertake inspections, measurements, assessments, valuations, surveys, studies, reports, work plans and certifications at facilities within the sphere of their specialism both on land and at sea.
