Industrial Engineer with a major in Construction Engineering (2001) by the School of Engineering of Bilbao (UPV/EHU).

Researcher at Labein (currently TECNALIA Research & Innovation) on issues related to structures and their pathological processes (2001-2003). Member of the structure department of several private companies in the construction sector (2003-2007), in charge of the drafting and supervision of projects and works in building and civil environments.

Professor and researcher of the Construction Engineering knowledge area, attached to the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the UPV/EHU since 2007. Doctor by the UPV/EHU ('Erresistentzia moderatuko ohiko aplikazioetan altzairu zuntzez indarturiko hormigoi autotrinkotzailearen erabileraren optimizazioa' 2013), through a study of the synergy between fibre reinforced concrete and self-compacting concrete, during its production, casting and quality control, regarding its structural behaviour.

Member of the consolidated research group by the Basque Government (type A) and member of the research team in several regional, national and international projects, giving rise to the co-authorship of multiple scientific publications in international journals with a high impact factor.

His main line of research focuses on the search for more sustainable concretes through the use of industrial by-products in their manufacture, which besides revalorizing said residues, improve their properties.
