In order to understand the present and envisage the future, it is essential to have a thorough knowledge of the past. History studies how societies evolve, change and relate to each other. It not only looks at medieval kings and queens, but also pays attention to the peasants of the time; to the generals of World War II, and to the civilian population left in the rear. A thorough knowledge of our history serves to address the social, political and economic problems that concern us here and now with a critical approach.
The Degree in History will educate you in the necessary theoretical and methodological foundations in the fields of prehistory, archaeology, ancient, medieval, modern and contemporary history, and economic history; but also in its spatial dimension, focusing on the history of Spain, the Basque Country, Europe and America. You will also learn the basic methods and techniques of historical research, and how to appreciate the value of historical and cultural heritage.
You can also specialise in the History of the Basque Country.
