This Degree will start in September 2023

Biomedical engineering is a new engineering field that aims to apply the principles and problem-solving techniques of engineering to the biomedical area.

This degree provides multidisciplinary training, allowing you to understand the needs and problems of healthcare professionals, and apply engineering techniques to develop technological solutions (robotics, artificial intelligence, data and signal processing, biomedical devices, medical instruments,…).

For this purpose, you will receive high quality training not only by experts in the field of engineering, but also by healthcare professionals with a close relationship with the Public Health System.

The Degree in Biomedical Engineering offers two possible specializations:

  • Dual Training, in which you can complete your training in a Biomedical Engineering sector company.
  • Specialization in Biomedical Technologies, in which you will be trained in cutting edge technology solutions for the Biomedical sector, and will be able to visit different healthcare services to understand the needs and problems of healthcare professionals.

It meets the criteria of the EHUduala Model and those required by Royal Decree 822/2021 to obtain the Dual Training Mention. This means that you will be able to opt for a plan in which you can alternate your academic training at university with a remunerated professional activity, directly related to your academic training. If you access this itinerary, thanks to an individualised training project, and the support of a tutor at the University and one in the company, you will be able to make the most of your experience in both fields.

This degree is taught entirely in English, except for 2 elective subjects.

This Degree has language requirements for access and admission: at least level B2 of Certified English is required.

Note: This Degree is taught at the Bilbao School of Engineering. Some subjects are taught at the Faculty of Medicine and Nursing and its Teaching Units.
