Description and Contextualization of the SubjectToggle Navigation

The Final Degree Project (FDP) is an original exercise, to be carried out individually and presented and defended before a university tribunal, consisting of a project in the field of specific automotive engineering technology, that synthesizes and integrates the skills acquired in the course.

The work must be original and will always be developed under the supervision of a director, whose function will be to define the objectives to be achieved, guide its development and monitor it.

The FDP is located in the second quarter of the 4th year of the degree. It is the last subject that will be evaluated compulsorily to obtain the degree, not being able to proceed to its public defense or evaluation if the credits corresponding to the rest of the subjects of the degree have not been passed.

Skills/Learning outcomes of the subjectToggle Navigation

Once the FDP has been defended and approved, the student will be able to:

1. Develop a technical project in the field of automotive engineering, aimed at the design, construction, manufacture, installation, assembly or operation of structures, equipment or facilities and manufacturing and/or automation processes, handling the necessary specifications, regulations, legislation and standards.

2. Solve engineering problems using computational approaches and tools, adopting a responsible and autonomous attitude, orderly at work and willing to learn and innovate, with initiative, creativity and critical reasoning.

3. Transmit knowledge, skills and abilities in the field of automotive engineering.

Theoretical and practical contentToggle Navigation

The FDP will be proposed by the company or institution that has an agreement with the EIVG. The Assistant Director of Business Relations will assign a director to the work and the director will include the proposal in the GAUR application for the subsequent selection of students.

The theoretical and practical content will depend on the type of company or institution and the task performed by the student during the internship.

In all cases, the FDP report must include a specific section, of at least 200 words, containing a reflection on the degree of connection of the FDP with the SDG and with democratic principles and values.

MethodologyToggle Navigation

The FDP is a subject that consists of autonomous and individual work directed by a director. The director will hold a series of meetings with the student in order to establish the objectives, plan and work methodology, as well as control the progress of the activity developed, assisting in decision-making to achieve the objectives.

Once the director considers the work completed, the student may make the defense request through the procedure enabled in GAUR.

Ordinary Call: Orientations and DisclaimerToggle Navigation

Registration will give the right to two official calls in each academic year in accordance with the provisions of the academic calendar approved by the School Board. Students who have not defended or have failed the FDP in the calls established for the course must re-enroll in the following academic year.

Students will specify the language in which they wish to prepare and defend their FDP, among those that have been used in the teaching of the Degree.

The FDP may be defended throughout the academic year, according to the academic calendar, approved by the School Board.

The student will have a total of 6 calls for the public presentation and defense of the FDP.

The evaluation and subsequent grading of the FDP will be carried out based on the evaluation of the director and the tribunal after the defense act by the student, taking into account that 25% of the total grade corresponds to the director's evaluation, and the remaining 75% with the evaluation carried out by the tribunal. To carry out both evaluations, the director and the tribunal have 2 rubrics approved by the School Board and published on the School's website.

The defense session will be public unless a confidentiality commitment has been authorized in the assignment document. During the defense, the three members of the FDP evaluation tribunal must be present.

Each student will have a maximum time for the defense that will be established by the director of the FDP and in which the student must present the objectives, methodology, content and conclusions of the FDP, subsequently answering the questions, clarifications, comments and suggestions that the members of the tribunal may ask you.

The minutes corresponding to the FDP must be signed by all members of the tribunal through the GAUR application.

Extraordinary Call: Orientations and DisclaimerToggle Navigation

The procedure will be identical in all the calls.
