Description and Contextualization of the SubjectToggle Navigation

The subject Methodology and Pictorial Project is inserted in a context in which students begin a more personal and autonomous approach to the creative act. The development of the subject does not depend so much on scheduled exercises as on the experimentation born from the pictorial proposals that come from the students. These personalized pictorial proposals are approached from a global perspective, analyzing the initial idea, the project and its development, insisting on experimentation and awareness of the plasticity of painting and its intrinsic contradictions. The ability to analyze the image is exercised, differentiated and guided according to the development of the project. The use of iconographic references, the assimilated pictorial, as well as a precise technical adaptation, are studied.

As an elective, this subject is situated in the context of PAINTING III, together with Methodology and Pictorial Process, presenting a set of subjects that address various approaches and problems that range from experimentation and creativity to the analysis and conceptualization of the pictorial fact.

We will work on a series of characteristics classified as follows:

1.- Structuring of material of the pictorial work. For this it will be necessary to follow a method. The method will be derived from the deduction and/or systematization of a procedure.

2.- The decisions necessary for the construction of the pictorial work and the aspects related to the conceptual level. Through the experience, personal experience and development will be mixed in issues such as the analysis of possibilities, the promotion of the chosen message/language, knowing how to finish and value what is finished.

Skills/Learning outcomes of the subjectToggle Navigation

c1.- Consciously use creative procedures and plastic (color, shape, texture, composition) and iconic resources in a personal pictorial practice.

c2.- Know and formalize a method of pictorial analysis and its application.

c3.- Know how to prepare a project with an appropriate methodology. Know how to collect, organize and interpret artistic visual documentation and images from other areas, to use them in the development of artistic projects.

Theoretical and practical contentToggle Navigation

MethodologyToggle Navigation

The nature of the practice is experimental.

The practical and experimental nature of the subject predominates based on the teaching modalities of seminars and workshops, combining theory with practice, implementing active methodologies that promote the educational initiative of the students.

Seminars:

This type of teaching facilitates the incorporation of content and the development of skills in individual processes. It will be a place for public presentation of the results of the work. A space to debate the problems that have occurred throughout the course. Also a space to debate in small groups about the work carried out and to draw conclusions about the work processes.

Workshops: At the beginning of each module, the basic theoretical concepts corresponding to each case will be explained. The work to be done will be shown and the students' doubts will be resolved. Once the work module has been explained, each student will work individually, guided by the teacher when faced with the problem posed, resolving doubts and helping to overcome the difficulties that arise individually. The tasks carried out by students during work hours are extended in continuous sessions. In the development of each of the proposals and/or at the completion of the work, spaces for debate regarding the work will be proposed. Individual and/or group.

Tutorials: (6 hours per week): Offers personal support and advice. The student will be able to receive advice on the work and discuss the results with the teacher. Have a place to examine the dossier/report requested, obtain information or discuss its status.

Assessment systemsToggle Navigation

  • Continuous Assessment System
  • Final Assessment System
  • Tools and qualification percentages:
    • Individual works (%): 80
    • Portfolio (%): 20

Ordinary Call: Orientations and DisclaimerToggle Navigation

1) Continuous evaluation:

This system will require regularity and continuity of the subject, as well as active participation, which will materialize in practice as follows:

- In practices and seminars the evolution and work process of the students will be evaluated

- Deliver all proposed work and deliver it on time.

- Contextualization of the work (use of knowledge, objectives, procedures and processes that will be presented throughout the course).

- correct job execution. The effectiveness, originality and solvency of the work will be taken into account.

- Commitment of the work with the continuity of one's own practice and with the subject. (Since we are in both the practical and experimental subjects, this requires class work. Otherwise this would be incomprehensible).

- A good disposition to participate in the presentations of one's own work and that of classmates.

- Appreciable development in personal work.

Continuous evaluation by performing the exercises that will make up the course.

If the minimum requirements to pass the course are not met through continuous evaluation (not submitting the exercises on time or the exercises do not meet the required minimums or do not correspond to the subject profile), in this case the student You will have to take an exam.

2) Final evaluation Exam:

Students who for any reason prefer the exam option, previously and as an essential condition for taking said exam, must submit the course work (the exercises that are proposed in the course, the image files collected and saved, the intermediate steps that will culminate in the corresponding exercises-frames, as well as the final report of the subject).

The exam will consist of carrying out an on-site exercise, in which the student must show that he/she knows and appropriately uses the skills and knowledge that correspond to the subject.

The exam must be carried out in the following cases:

- Having chosen the exam option (waiver of the continuous call).

- Because throughout the course, with due continuity, the work does not reach the minimum contents.

- Because the works presented are outside the scope of the subject.

- Not having completed the work or not having presented it correctly and on time to the teacher.

To resign from the continuous call, students will have to present the resignation in writing (physically so it can be signed) to the teacher responsible for the subject one month before the official exam date for the subject.

Extraordinary Call: Orientations and DisclaimerToggle Navigation

The test will consist of a theoretical part and a practical part that must both be passed in order to be able to make an average between them, the result of which will be obtained on an approximate value of 20% of the theoretical part and 80% of the practical part, which will be weighted each assigned teacher. Due to the nature and content of the subject, the student must submit to the final test, the complement of appropriate work from different practices that accredit their level of understanding and improvement of the subject, within the program taught and developed in the corresponding group of The subject.

In relation to the renunciation of the evaluation system:

It will be enough for the student not to take the test to be evaluated as such. This position will be understood as direct resignation (art. 12).

3) Given the characteristics of the classroom that does not have computer equipment, in the initial phases of the project, if these types of resources are needed, it would be a non-face-to-face task to be carried out in the faculty's computer room or with the resources that the student tells.
4) Appropriate and sufficient equipment for painting, brushes, palette, bottles for thinner or for making mixtures, rags, tape.
5) Suitable supports to practice Painting.
