Degree in Political Science and Sociology from the University of Deusto (1986) and PhD in Political Science and Sociology from the UPV/EHU (2006). He has developed his research in urban sociology addressing the processes of inclusion and exclusion, spatial inequalities and the effects of social exclusion on deprived neighborhoods. Likewise, he has developed the line of research linked to the analysis of the effects of ICT on the digital divide, e-Government and the development of digital citizenship. In the development of these lines of research, it is worth mentioning the participation in projects of state scope and funding on urban social exclusion and urban policies.



His specialization in research methods includes teaching as well as the use of qualitative/quantitative techniques, the application of statistical techniques for the analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, and the use and programming with statistical software.



At the same time, he has participated in national research on e-Government and has led projects on digital divide and inclusion. He co-directs the research group KideOn (group A of the Basque university system).



He has been visiting professor at Wilf Malcolm Institute of Educational Research, University of Waikato (New Zealand).
