I am Associate Professor at the Department of Applied Physics I, at the Engineering School of Gipuzkoa-Donostia. The courses that I usually teach are Applied Physics and Architectural Acoustics in the Building Engineering Degree.

Regarding the research activity, the first steps of my scientific career focused on the study of ion and radiation interactions with condensed matter. Currently my research is oriented to Applied Physics. More precisely, I am a member of the BIOMAT research group, awarded as A-group of the Basque university system by the Basque Government. We develop renewable and biodegradable materials of great added value (active and/or intelligent biofilms, health/pharmaceutical products) obtained from biopolymers coming from various types of waste or industrial by-products.

In the chapter of university management, I have been Subirector of the former Polytechnic University School of Donostia, Vicerector for International Projection of the UPV/EHU and, currently, I am Subdirector for Accreditation and Postgraduate Studies of the School of Engineering of Gipuzkoa. In addition, I am a member of the Postgraduate Commission of the UPV/EHU as a representative of the area of Engineering and Architecture.
