Description and Contextualization of the SubjectToggle Navigation
The subject "Introduction to Health and Safety Prevention and Technical Projects" is part of the Process Management module. It is a subject of the second four-month period of the second year, in which the basic concepts of prevention in building works are introduced for the first time.
Students, in the previous four-month periods, have taken the Construction I course and half of the credits of the Construction II course, so they have previous knowledge of the contents of the Project Report, the phases in construction and some construction techniques. From this base, the necessary concepts of Health and Safety are introduced so that the students are able to elaborate Health and Safety Studies and to coordinate the area of Safety both in the Project phase and in the Execution phase. The continuity of this knowledge is acquired in the subject "Prevention and Safety at Work", which is taught in the third year. Both subjects are core subjects with a load of 6 credits.
The technical architect, in his professional work, acquires responsibilities in the area of Safety and Prevention, so it is essential that he masters both the existing legislation and its application when carrying out the Safety Study. In addition, as part of the Project Management, he/she will have to watch over the adequate performance of the works in order to avoid, as far as possible, accidents at work. The training in this area is complemented with the one they will receive the following course in the subject of "Prevention and Safety at Work". All the knowledge acquired will be of great use at the time of exercising their professional work as graduates.
