- Dr. Ulrich Brandenburg is a Grants Advisor at the University of Bern, where he covers the humanities, theology, law, and mathematics/IT. The Grants Office at the University of Bern advises researchers on major European funding opportunities, as well as on those offered by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF), with a particular focus on career funding schemes within the SNSF. This presentation will highlight opportunities for international collaboration within the Swiss National Science Foundation’s Project Funding scheme—the most important funding instrument in Switzerland. The inclusion of international Co-PIs is generally possible in collaborative projects involving three or four applicants, and in particular through specific bilateral schemes: Weave, Lead Agency, and the International Co-Investigator Scheme. These schemes simplify submission and evaluation, and typically allow for joint projects with just one Swiss PI and one international co-applicant.
