Profile for admission
Candidates can access the programme from any of the accredited studies that allow access to the doctorate and who have a profile in Contemporary Art, both in its visual and in its sound aspects.
The recommended profile is that which is obtained through the Master's Degree in Art Research and Creation or a similar qualification from any other university.In the particular cases of students who have completed professional master's degrees, in other words, master's degrees which do not include research training credits, we propose the realization of a work consisting of the adaptation of the respective master's thesis, which usually has a narrative format accompanied by a brief description of it. The master's thesis should be typical of the Master's Degree in Art Research and Creation, in book format, with a minimum of 60 pages, including an index, a working hypothesis, a development and conclusions, together with a suitable bibliography.In the case of students who have not completed a master's degree in Fine Arts, we propose a training course (10 hours) providing 1 credit.

Procedure for assigning a faculty member as a doctoral thesis tutor and director
Once a student has been accepted onto the doctoral programme, the Academic Commission will assign them a tutor and at least one director from among the faculty at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) participating in the programme.
When a letter of endorsement is required from Doctoral Programme, director of the candidate will be the person indicated at the endorsement letter. No candidates will be accepted without endorsement letter, when it is required by doctoral programme.
Tutors are responsible for interactions between the doctoral candidate and the Academic Commission. They are also responsible for adapting training and research activities to the principles of the programmes and, where appropriate, the Doctoral School.
