Iker Sobron earned his PhD in electronics engineering from the University of Mondragon (MU) in 2011. From 2010 to 2012, he was a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Electronics and Computer Science at MU. He joined EHU in 2013 and is currently an Assistant Professor with the Department of Computer Languages and Systems. He has completed two research stays at universities in other countries: a 6-month stay as a predoc at the University of Turku, Finland, and a 2-year postdoc stay at the Signals, Multimedia and Telecommunications Lab (SMT Lab) at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He has participated in several publicly funded research projects and technology transfer projects related to wireless communications systems and statistical signal processing. Dr. Sobron has been involved in projects on various topics: physical layer algorithms for wireless communications, cognitive radio, cooperative networks, software-defined radio implementations, wireless localization, and expert systems for human activity recognition. His research activities are currently carried out within the TSR (Signal Processing and Radiocommunications) research group, at the UPV/EHU.
