Begoña Sanz holds a BSc in Sciences (1993) and a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (2003). She works as Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). She teaches biochemistry on the Medicine Grade and also participates as lecturer to master’s students in Biomedical Research as well as Healthy Ageing and Quality of Life. Currently, she is a member of the Academic Committee for the latter, and from 2012 to 2019 she was a member of the Human Research Ethics Committee (CEISH) of the UPV/EHU. As a member of the Ageing On group, Dr. Sanz’s research is focused on searching for molecular biomarkers related with ageing, frailty and sarcopenia, but she also participates in projects on breastfeeding promotion and ethical aspects of biomedicine. Dr. Sanz often participates in outreach activities aimed at bringing scientific findings closer to the general population such as talks or written articles.
