Born in Vitoria in 1974, he obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in 2001. He is currently a tenured professor in the area of inorganic chemistry in the same institution. He is author of 139 scientific publications (h = 34) in the areas of materials science, inorganic chemistry and crystallography. He has presented more than 100 communications in national and international congresses. His scientific interests are focused on the development of porous metal-organic materials, the supramolecular self-assembly of discrete metal-organic entities and the synthesis in the absence of solvent. He is author of two International Patents (WO2014/122105, WO2017/186997), being the most recent licensed to and under exploitation by a technological startup created in 2017, Poretune S.L. He has participated in 16 R&D projects financed in competitive public calls, in three of these projects he has been the researcher in charge. Since 2018, he is head of the "Metal-Organic Materials" research group in the UPV/EHU which has been recognized as top A-level research group by the Basque Government.



He teaches in the Degree of Chemistry, in the Masters of New Materials (UPV/EHU) and Applied Chemistry (UAM) as well as in many different postgraduate courses. His teaching activity has been evaluated as excellent by the DOZENTIAZ program of evaluation of the teaching activity. He has directed 7 doctoral theses and innumerable final degree and
