The expected skills and learning results are the following: C1. Ability to build, operate and manage telecommunications networks, services, processes and applications, understood as systems for capturing, transporting, representing, processing, storing, managing and presenting multimedia information, from the point of view of telematic services ( ref. M04TE1). RA1.1: (Knowledge of) Fundamentals of multimedia information RA1.2: (Knowledge and application of) Methods of encoding and transmission of multimedia information. RA1.3: (Searchability and understanding of) Multimedia applications in the field of audio and video over IP. C2. Ability to design network architectures and telematic services (ref. M04TE6). RA2.1: (Knowledge of the different) Functional blocks of a multimedia services network RA2.2: (Knowledge of the) Quality parameters of a network and/or multimedia service.

THEORETICAL CONTENTS: 1. Multimedia content: Types and Characteristics. Storage, encoding and compression formats. 2. Transmission and reproduction of multimedia content: Scenarios (real time, delayed,...). Specific service quality problems (latency, jitter). Specific protocols of the transport layer and above. Techniques to improve the quality of service. 3. Design and deployment of applications and services: client-server applications, from low-level coding to transport using standard protocols. PRACTICAL CONTENT: Basic treatment, transmission and management of multimedia content (images, audios, voice, videos) through these complementary methods: 1. Basic programming (shell scripts, C, Java, Python, ...) from libraries and different software components. 2. Installation, Configuration, Administration of Server/Client Applications.

* Theoretical-practical writing: 40%
* Lab practices: 60%
For those who renounce the continuous evaluation, the score will be the same as that of the extraordinary call.
