Fernando Tapia Alberdi

Curriculum vitae

Fernando Tapia Alberdi (b. Azkoitia, 1969) holds an undergraduate degree in Law from the UPV/EHU, an international master's degree in Legal Sociology from the IISJ (International Institute for the Sociology of Law) and a PhD in Law from the UPV/EHU. He has been lecturing in the Philosophy of Law area at the UPV/EHU since 1997. He has been a member of the Governing Council of the IISJ (1999-2003), a spokesperson for the UNED-Bergara Foundation (2003-2007), Academic Secretary of the Department of Administrative Law, Constitutional Law and Philosophy of Law (2015-2017), Head of Campus Development and External Relations for the Gipuzkoa Campus of the UPV/EHU, Head of the Joxemari Korta R&D Centre (2017-2019) and Vice-Rector of Scientific Development and Knowledge Transfer (2019-2021). Although he does not practise, he is a member of the Bar Association of Madrid and has provided legal advice in the field of sports law. He has management experience in the public and private sectors, having held (among others) the posts of Provincial Councillor for Social and Institutional Relations at the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa (2003-2007), Joint Manager of the Cross-Border Agency for the Development of the Basque Bayonne-San Sebastián Eurocity (2003-2007), spokesperson for the CTP (Working Community of the Pyrenees) (2004-2007) and Chair of the Kirolgi Foundation (2003-2007).

He is currently a member of the Management Board of the “Legal Clinic for Social Justice” at the Faculty of Law of the UPV/EHU and of the ETICOP-IT research group (Ethics in Communities of Practice).
