Dra. Itziar Angulo received the M.S. Degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Bilbao Engineering College, University of the Basque Country (Spain), in 2007. After receiving a predoctoral grant from the Basque Government, she finished a Master in Mobile Network Information and Communication Technologies and obtained her PhD degree with "summa cum laude" mention in 2013 in the same university. Her doctoral dissertation, entitled "Channel model to characterize signal scattering from a wind farm in the UHF band and influence on the DVB-T quality of service" was awarded with an Extraordinary Doctoral Award (Premio Extraordinario de Doctorado UPV/EHU) and also a finalist award from the Spanish Association of Telecommunication Engineers (Premio Finalista COIT-AEIT en Gestión, Economía y Regulación de las Telecomunicaciones a la Mejor Tesis Doctoral en la XXXIV Edición de los Premios a los Mejores Proyectos Fin de Carrera, Trabajos Fin de Máster y Tesis Doctorales del Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros de Telecomunicación).
She is part of the Signal Processing and Radiocommunications research group (TSR) since 2005. After five years of post-doctoral experience, she is currently an associated professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics in the University of the Basque Country and continues with the research activities within the TSR group. Apart from her main research line about the potential impact of wind farms on radiocommunication services, she is now involved in the study of new data transmission techniques for smart metering, monitoring and management of the future smart grids.
