Deskribapen laburra: Iberiaren konkista islamiarrak, VIII. mendean, aldaketa sakonak ekarri zituen politika-, gizarte- eta ekonomia-esparruetan, tokiko landa- eta hiri-komunitateen eguneroko bizitza eraldatu zutenak. Berrikuntza teknologikoek eta labore berrien etorrerak eragina izan zuten nekazaritzan, dietan eta sukaldaritzako praktiketan. Landareak Erdi Aroko jendearen eguneroko bizitzako ia alderdi guztietan zeuden (janaria, artisautza, botikak, etab.). Hala ere, iraganari buruzko eztabaidetan alde batera utzi ohi dira. Iberiako garai kulturaniztun honetako landareei buruz dakigun gehiena ikerketa arkeologiko mugatuetan eta iturri idatzietan oinarritzen da. Iturri horiek, balio ukaezina duten arren, askotan eliteekin lotutako gaiak islatzen dituzte. Aitzitik, arkeologia, eta zehazkiago arkeobotanika eta hari lotutako teknika zientifikoak, aparteko posizioan daude landareen ekoizpenarekin, prozesamenduarekin, prestaketarekin eta kontsumoarekin lotutako gaiak jorratzeko, eta gizarte-aldaketa zabalagoekin nola lotzen diren aztertzeko. Arkeobotanika eta iturri idatziak integratuz, eta teknika berritzaileak aplikatuz (landare-genomika eta elikagai-hondarren analisia), MEDAPPk Erdi Aroko Iberian (VI-XI mendeak. c.); nondik zetozen espezie berriak eta noiz sartu ziren, nork ekarri zituen eta jendeak nola elkarreragiten zuen haiekin hainbat jardunbideren bidez. Proiektuak agenda holistiko berri bat ezartzen du, sistema politiko, ekonomiko eta sozial berriak nekazaritzan, elikadura-ohituretan eta Iberiako Erdi Aroko komunitateetako sukaldaritza-praktiketan duen eragina ulertzeko. Proiektu honek erabateko aldaketa ekarri nahi du Erdi Aroko Iberiako landareen nekazaritza, ekoizpena, prestaketa eta kontsumoa aztertzeko moduan. Testuen hutsuneak betetzeko urrezko aukera bat da, erregistro arkeobotanikoan aztarnak bilatuz; isilune horietan jasotako hitzik gabeko informazioa metodo zientifiko eta berritzaileekin lantzeko aukera bat.
