Biography
Prof. A.J. Müller is a Materials Engineer (Simón Bolívar University, USB, Caracas, Venezuela), with an M.Sc. in Chemistry (IVIC, Caracas, Venezuela) and a Ph.D. in Physics (from Bristol University, U.K.). He is an Emeritus Professor from Simón Bolívar University, Caracas, Venezuela. Since September 2013 he is an IKERBASQUE Research Professor at The Institute for Polymer Materials (POLYMAT) and Visiting Professor at the Polymer Science and Technology Department, Faculty of Chemistry, University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU) in Donostia-San Sebastián, Spain.
Research
His fields of interest include: polymer solution rheology, structured fluids, morphology, nucleation, crystallization and crystallization kinetics of semi-crystalline materials and of multiphasic materials (in particular polymer blends, block copolymers, biopolymers and nano-composites).
Publications
He has co-authored more than 400 publications from which 180 have been published in international peer review journals (indexed in the SCI). He has tutored 85 B.Sc. thesis and 47 postgraduate thesis (both M.Sc. and Ph.D.). He has won several awards in Venezuela, including the Lorenzo Mendoza Fleury, Polar Prize for basic science. In 2011 he received the international "Paul J. Flory Polymer Research Prize". Prof. Müller has given more than 50 keynote, plenary and invited lectures in more than 20 countries around the world. He has achieved an h index of 36 and more than 4000 citations to his publications (Source: SCOPUS, October, 2013).
