Resumen The Volkswagen Foundation supports research in the humanities and social sciences, as well as the use of science and technology in higher education. They periodically release open calls on a variety of topics, including societal and academic challenges, international post-doctoral fellowships, and research in the digital age.
Objetivo

The Volkswagen Foundation funds research projects in ground-breaking areas and provides assistance to academic institutions for the improvement of the structural conditions for their work. In particular, the Foundation perceives its mission in supporting aspiring young academics and in promoting interdisciplinary and international collaboration.

Modalidad

Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation (Violence and Aggression)
Resumen This foundation requests proposals from any of the natural and social sciences and the humanities that promise to increase understanding of the causes, manifestations, and control of violence and aggression. Questions that interest the foundation concern violence and aggression in relation to social change, intergroup conflict, war, terrorism, crime, and family relationships, among other subjects.
Objetivo

The Guggenheim Foundation provides 1-2 year grants ranging from US$15.000-40.000.

FRIJUM: Causas del fracaso en la negociación

Breve descripción: El modelo de negociación tradicional en economía y ciencia política presupone agentes racionales e información completa y perfecta. Este modelo no puede explicar el retraso o la ruptura de la negociación. Una literatura teórica emergente explora las causas conductuales del fracaso de la negociación, como creencias sesgadas, compromisos y falta de racionalidad de conocimiento común. Proponemos ampliar esta literatura, formulando modelos y realizando una evaluación sistemática de hipótesis en competencia en experimentos controlados. La primera parte del proyecto aborda la negociación bilateral.

La segunda parte del proyecto varía según las instituciones más amplias en las que tiene lugar la negociación. En general, los negociadores racionales en entornos de información completa no producen demoras ni interrupciones. Sin embargo, la negociación real se lleva a cabo en una variedad de entornos institucionales más amplios, como mercados con fricciones coincidentes y diversas formas de intervención de terceros. Esto puede dar lugar a desafíos informativos que afectan la eficiencia de la negociación. Nos centramos en dos aspectos del entorno institucional: la intervención institucionalizada de terceros y la negociación incorporada en mercados friccionados.
