He has occupied several positions as research and teacher at the UPV/EHU, where from 1997, he is professor in the area of Chemical Engineering. Currently, he teaches Fluid Mechanics, for chemical engineers and biotechnologists and, within the Master in Chemical Engineering, Water Treatment. His research activity deals with advanced technologies for removal water contaminants and applications of microwave drying processes in which he has led different projects of his research group, qualified as consolidated (class A) within the Research University System. Consequently, his group keeps currently collaborations with other outstanding research groups of European Universities and Research Centres in multidisciplinary actions to solve environmental problems of emergent contaminants in water. He is author of more than 79 papers appeared in internationally highly recognized journals, in the field of advanced technologies to the environment protection and chemical engineering processes. He contributed with more than 180 communications and lectures to congresses and symposiums in different chemical engineering subjects. As instructor for young researchers he acted as advisor and director for 16 doctoral thesis (12 defended), lecturer and organizer of international courses at post-graduate level, attended by English, French, Dutch and Spanish students.
