The Aeronautics and Space Cluster-Association of the Basque Country - HEGAN, is the first regional aerospace Cluster in Spain founded in 1997. Since that date, it has worked to boost, develop and represent all the entities that make up the Sector in the Basque Country.
At present, almost 70 organizations are counted as Members -52 Industries, 5 RTD Entities, 4 Universities and 7 Allies- that cover practically the entire Aerospace Value Chain, supplying Systems, Sub-assemblies, Components and Advanced Services for the most important global Clients:
With a wide range of technologies and capabilities, and certified in all the standards of the Sector, the Members are key suppliers in the Aerostructures, Engines, Systems, Equipment and Space segments; keeping a high technological intensity that allows them to be reliable and strategic partners:
RTD & Academia highlights
- HEGAN Members carried out more than 202 RTD Projects in 2020
- 12 HEGAN Members participates in CLEAN SKY (9 of them as Core Partners): Aciturri, Aernnova, Capgemini, Cidetec, Batz, CTA, Danobatgroup, Egile, ITP Aero, SENER Aeroespacial, Tecnalia and UPV/EHU
- 4 Tier1 lead the industry RTD: Aciturri, Aernnova, ITP Aero and SENER Aeroespacial
- 4 RTD Entities and 4 Universities with a capacity of 300 investigators are at the service of the industry: Cidetec, Lortek, Tecnalia and Tekniker and the universities of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), Deusto, Mondragon and Tecnun
- And specific aerospace Tech Centre (CTA) with 3 labs for Testing & Certification
- And Aerospace Advanced Manufacturing Centre (CFAA) that will trace the path to the Aerospace Metal-Mechanic RTD for TRL 4 to 7
- A permanent Innovation Committee that connects industry, RTD entities and Universities that tries to find points of common interest to develop collaborative RTD projects
- Aeroacademy: initiative that generates technical and technological training according to the demand of the Members and their industrial and technological objectives.
