Research interests My PhD focused on the effect of water abstraction on stream ecosystem functioning. More specifically, I studied the impact of abstraction on the storage and decomposition of organic matter, biofilm activity and nutrient cycling. Currently, I am using ~20 years of high-frequency water quality data collected by water agencies at different sites to reconstruct historic changes in stream metabolism, identify long-term temporal patterns of ecosystem functioning and their main drivers, disentangle the effects of climate from other aspects of global environmental change, and explore how stream metabolism will likely change in the future. |
