Research interests

My thesis project, titled "Consequences of river fragmentation on the genetic diversity of fluvial communities", will study the impact of natural and artificial obstacles over invertebrate, fish, and microbial populations, from a genetic and genomic point of view. It will also assess the effectiveness of removing dams to recover river connectivity.

I am very interested in analyzing the impact of ecosystem fragmentation over population genetics and diversity. Specially, through an exploration of all the opportunities that next generation sequencing techniques can provide to ecological studies, as well as all new software and tools developed to assess this type of data.
