Research interests

I am a freshwater ecologist, especially interested in addressing the effects of anthropogenic impacts on stream community structure and energy transfer along food webs. I conducted my PhD at the University of the Basque Country where I assessed the effects of pollution and water detraction on the structure and functioning of stream food webs by means of stable isotope analyses, modeling food webs’ bioenergetics and estimating energy fluxes. I am also interested in identifying long-term temporal patterns of community size spectra and detecting their main drivers to assess different aspects of global environmental change, and discern how communities will likely be altered in the time to come.
