Welcome to the Languages of Anglo-Saxon Charters (LASC) database, which allows users to explore the varied uses of Latin and the Anglo-Saxon vernacular, Old English, in the extraordinarily rich corpus of 1500 surviving charters from Anglo-Saxon England. This resource has been compiled as part of the Languages of Early Medieval Charters (LEMC) project, based at the University of the Basque Country and funded by grants from the Spanish Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad (HAR2014-51484-ERC) and the Universidad del País Vasco UPV/EHU. This project is led by Prof. Francesca Tinti and the LASC database has been compiled with the assistance of Dr Robert Gallagher, Dr Kate Wiles and Mr Albert Fenton.
