GENERAL PROTEOMICS SERVICE
Introduction
The Proteomics Unit of the UPV/EHU, located in the Faculty of Science and Technology of the Bizkaia Campus, is a general research support service whose objective is to offer its services to the research groups of the UPV/EHU and the scientific community in general.
Proteins are essential components of all living organisms and perform many vital functions. Therefore, proteomics, the large-scale study of proteins expressed in a cell, tissue or organism, has become a key technology for addressing fundamental biological questions.
The Proteomics Core Facility was established in 2004 and provides excellent infrastructure for protein analysis using mass spectrometry-based proteomic approaches. This includes a fully equipped wet lab for sample preparation, state-of-the-art mass spectrometers for LC-MS/MS experiments, and specialized bioinformatics tools for data analysis.
Equipment
The Service has a state-of-the-art instrumentation that is continually updated.
Fields of application
Mass spectrometry-based proteomics has become a powerful tool that can be used to address central questions in a wide variety of bioscience fields such as Biochemistry and Biomedicine, Pharmacy, Environment, Food and Agriculture Sciences, and Anthropology. .
Access rules
To access the Proteomics Unit, the requirements established in the SGIker access protocol and use of the available services must be met.
