Equipment of the month: Zeiss LSM800 and Zeiss LSM880 Airyscan.

Confocal spectral microscopy system with high sensitivity, super-resolution and live cell.

Description

The system consists of two independent confocal microscopes. One is a Zeiss LSM800 confocal microscope and the other is a Zeiss LSM880 Airyscan. Both teams are located in the María Goyri Animal Biotechnology Center, in the Bizkaia Campus (Leioa-Erandio area).

The Zeiss LSM800 is a confocal microscope that has 4 lasers and two conventional detectors. The available optics are 10x, 20x, 40x Oil and 63x Oil, all with apochromatic plan corrections.

The Airyscan LSM880 is an advanced spectral confocal microscope, which incorporates a super resolution module (Airyscan), capable of reaching 120nm of lateral resolution. All its optics is apochromatic plan and has several multi-immersion objectives. The equipment has detectors of high sensitivity, in addition to an incubation system with temperature control and CO2 to perform experiments with living cells.
