The developed microfluidic chip can investigate the root-microbe interactions and the chemical changes around the root spatially and temporally. There is only one developed microfluidic system, which can address similar problems developed by Aufrecht et al 2022 (attached). But, the fabrication mode is more costly and complicated, and the growth environment for the root is different. It is not possible to collect rood information from different exudates /analytes) for discrete sections of the rood.

The advantages of the developed system:

-fast and easy prototyping

-fast and easy fabrication

-cost effective materials

-easy to use.

-monitor discrete sections of the rood by extracting its contents and even by in situ analysis
