- Description:
In this work the development of a gender identification paper device for crime scenes analysis has been investigated, based on the colorimetric analysis of the catalytic oxidation of ABTS (2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid)) produced by a DNAzyme specific to Y chromosome amelogenin gene. This device will allow to clarify depositor’s gender of a biological evidence, making it possible to reduce the number of suspects to investigate and restrict them to a single gender, simplifying the investigation.
