Prof. Idoia Postigo
(Leader of the Parasitology and Allergy Team)
Biography
Degree in Biological Sciences and PhD in Immunology, Microbiology and Parasitology (2004) from the UPV/EHU. She is Full Professor at the Department of Immunology, Microbiology and Parasitology of the UPV/EHU, Faculty of Pharmacy. She is the leader of Parasitology and Allergy Research Group since 2016 and she joined the Microfluidics Cluster in 2022. She is awarded three six-year research periods by the CNEAI. Expert evaluator of ANEP research projects and reviewer in Journal of Food Microbiology, Medical Microbiology and Immunology and European Medical Journal. She published more than 50 papers in prestigious journals such as Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, Plos Neglected Tropical Diseases, Immunology and Allergy, Frontiers in Microbiology and Frontiers in Immunology. She wrote 5 book chapters on allergy and parasitism and edited an e-book on the immunological implications of the Hygiene Hypothesis in Frontiers editorial. Her main line of research focuses on the study of allergy, the use of parasitic antigens against inflammatory process caused by allergic asthma and the development of new tools based on microfluidics and lab-on-a-chip techniques for the diagnosis of IgE-mediated allergic diseases. She currently teaches in the Degree of Pharmacy (UPV/EHU) and in the Master in Microbiology and Health (UPV/EHU), of which she is a member of the Board of Directors.
Research
