Biography
Alba is a Biotechnologist by the Polytechnic University of Valencia and finished her MSc in Forensic Analysis by the University of the Basque Country in 2017. Currently she is PhD candidate at the Microfluidics Custer UPV/EHU.
Project
Development of nanoplasmonic and optical biosensors for cell biology studies. Her main thesis project is based on the immobilisation of gold nanoparticles on cell culture substrates to detect biomolecules of interest using the PRET efect. This methodology can also be applied to optical fibers, a work currently in process. Other sensing antennas include quantum dots and gold nanoclusters conjugated to fluorescent proteins that change their intensity in response to certain effects. She is also involved in the creation of a cytotoxicity measuring device based on the analysis of single-cell arrays that is being currently applied to iPSC-derived cardiomyocites under certain stresses.
