I obtained my Bachelor (2000) and PhD (2005) degrees in Biochemistry at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). Part of my postdoctoral work was carried out as a junior researcher with a Torres Quevedo grant at Proteomika SL, where I worked in personalized medicine, developing new proteomic tools for cancer diagnosis. In 2009, I joined the Biophysics Unit with a JaeDoc research contract, and since 2012, I have been teaching at UPV/EHU.

Throughout my research career, I have completed several stays at international research centers. I have supervised four PhD theses, all of them with international distinction, as well as various undergraduate and master’s theses. I have participated in over 25 research projects and co-authored 32 scientific articles, in addition to presenting more than 50 conference papers. My scientific interest focuses on studying the biological processes that occur in cell membranes, particularly the lipid-protein interactions that regulate these processes. I currently conduct my research at the Biofisika Institute, where I am part of the Autophagy research group.

After teaching for seven years at the Faculty of Pharmacy of UPV/EHU, I am now teaching at the Faculty of Science and Technology, where I coordinate the undergraduate thesis program for the Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Additionally, since 2021, I have served as the Chair of the Academic Committee for the PhD Program in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine.
