She received her PhD (2010) by the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). She holds a degree on Physics Bachelor degree from Universidad de Cantabria, an Electronic Engineering degree from UPV/EHU and a master degree on Physics Engineering from UPV/EHU.
Her research focuses on clinical text mining, an area within artificial intelligence and natural language processing applied to clinical information extraction. She has also worked on statistical machine translation of speech. She is a researcher at IXA group (http://ixa.eus) and at HiTZ (http://hitz.eus), the Basque Center for Language Technologies. Her research work has been published in several international journals indexed within the JCR and has also been spread in conferences (see details in orcid: 0000-0003-2638-9598).
She participates in competitive research projects with funds from several agencies such as European comission. CIP-Best Practice Network, TIN, Basque Gobernment. She did several research stays at the University of Edinburgh and at Stockholm University.
As assistant professor, she is in charge of subjects such as Data Mining, Decision Support Systems or Computational Linguistics and Formal Languages. She takes part in different degrees (e.g. Mathds, Computer Sciences, Physics and Electronic Engineering) supervising graduation, master or phd theses.
