Zoraida Freixa, graduated in Chemistry by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) in 1995, and was Doctorated in 2000 by the same university, after a one-year stage at the Universidade de Coimbra (Portugal). After a three-year postdoctoral stage at the Unversiteit van Amsterdam (UvA), she returned to Spain in 2004 as Ramón y Cajal fellow, at the Institut Català d’Investigació Química (ICIQ), were she was hired as group manager of Prof. PWNM van Leeuwen. In 2010, after a short period as Lecturer at the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) she joined the UPV-EHU as Ikerbasque Research Professor, position that she is holding nowadays.
Dr Zoraida Freixa, is involved in the Master Program of the Appplied Chemistry Department, and she also supervising Final Degree Projects (TFG), Final Master Projects (TFM) and doctoral thesis, in the area of organometallic chemistry.
Her research interests, centered in organometallic chemistry, cover a broad range of aspects, ranging from organometallic catalysis to photoswitchable compounds, luminescence or supramolecular interactions.
