Competencies

  • Being able to forecast and monitor the evolution of new or changing situations and act effectively. Once they have completed their studies, students will be able to act effectively in order to achieve the professional objectives set in diverse contexts, performing their tasks effectively and dealing with new or changing situations.
  • Being aware of the process of social innovation and its part in how businesses in the social and solidarity-based economy work.
  • Critical and reflective thinking. This skill is closely related to the critical and transforming view of reality associated with the social and solidarity-related economy. Once they have completed their studies, students ought to ask questions about the reality that surrounds them and actively take part in the debates on this, analysing the opinions expressed and thinking about the consequences of the decisions made by themselves and others.
  • Dealing with conflict and negotiation. Once they have completed their studies, students will be able to express their own opinions and take into account those of others whilst trying to reach acceptable agreements. Moreover, they will be able to deal with conflict situations between people and groups with a positive, constructive attitude.
  • Decision making. Once they have completed their studies, students will be able to apply systematic methods in order to take consistent personal decisions with confidence, showing initiative and actively collaborating with others when taking group decisions.
  • Deliberative thinking. Deliberative thinking involves an element of reflection and logic oriented towards solving problems and taking decisions when faced with the different situations that professional life presents us with. Once they have completed their studies, students will be able to carefully and thoroughly consider the pros and cons of a decision in complex situations before making it.
  • Diversity and interculturalism. Once they have completed their studies, students will be able to understand social and cultural diversity and interact with different people with respect, as well as demonstrate their belief that cultural diversity leads to cohesion and social inclusion.
  • Ethical sensitivity. Once they have completed their studies, students will be able to identify, recognise and apply the ethical values of sharing and human dignity, moral sensitivity and the principles of social and global justice.
  • Knowing how to analyse public policies, including development cooperation, related to the businesses and entities in the social and solidarity-based economy.
  • Knowing how to apply strategic management and human resources processes to businesses and entities in the social and solidarity-based economy given the ethical criteria which must characterise those entities.
  • Knowing how to manage and evaluate job placement programs and analyse their impact on poverty and social inclusion.
  • Learning orientation. Using learning as a strategic, flexible, continuous and permanent tool in a society undergoing important changes and transformations. Once they have completed their studies, students ought to be self-sufficient learners, open to change and able to look into new areas of knowledge and carry out a personal summary adapted to their own professional needs.
  • Systemic thinking. This skill is very closely related to the Master's degree's multidisciplinary nature. It allows for the organisation and integration of interrelated components in order to create a whole and understand and deal with reality through global patterns. Level of mastery: capable of integrating elements from different subjects or areas into their analysis of reality, resorting to different viewpoints, sources and dimensions to analyse the reality and practically apply knowledge by including it in a project.
  • Teamwork. Once they have completed their studies, students will be able to actively participate and cooperate in group tasks, contributing to the development of cooperative work, promoting a balanced distribution of tasks, communication, a suitable internal environment and cohesion.
  • The use of ICTs. Once they have completed their studies, students will use ICTs as a tool for expression and communication, to access information sources, to file data and documents, in presentation tasks, in learning, to perform their jobs and for cooperative work.
  • Understanding how the entities that make up the social and solidarity-based economy work from different viewpoints (legal, social, financial and business) on the basis of the values of the social and solidarity-based economy.
  • Understanding the specific legal, accounting and tax features of the businesses and entities in the social and solidarity-based economy (cooperatives, worker-owned companies, mutual societies, special job centres, placement companies, associations and foundations).
  • Written and oral communication. Once they have completed their studies, students ought to be able to express their own ideas in a structured, understandable manner, both in writing to facilitate comprehension and gain the reader's interest, and orally in formal or structured situations and/or situations where arguments are to be exchanged.
