He graduated in Biology in 1999 and obtained the degree of Doctor in Ecology in 2003 (UPV/EHU). He works as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Science and Technology since September 2004, in the Department of Genetics, Physical Anthropology and Animal Physiology. He was a member of the Commission for Biology Degree Studies from 2014 to 2018 and was Coordinator of the Final Project in Biology (2014-2018).

He is co-author in 9 scientific articles and has participated in 19 national and international conferences. He is currently integrated into the Physiological energetics of bivalve mollusks research group, in which he is conducting a doctoral thesis. He has participated in 10 research projects, collaborating with entities such as the IEO of Vigo, the CSIC of Vigo and the IATS-CSIC. The main research line focuses on the study of the differences of endogenous (genetic) origin in the growth capacity shown among individuals and families of bivalve populations with commercial interest. The aim is to establish the correlations between physiological function and gene expression, in an attempt to understand the endogenous determinants that condition the high differences in growth rates observed between individuals. In another line of research, the possible homeostatic mechanisms of compensation that bivalves can present to nutritional imbalances are being studied.
