Greetings from the Bilbao Mayor for the VII World Congress 2020 of ISBEE in Bilbao
Between 15 and 18 July 2020, Bilbao will host the seventh edition of the quadrennial congress of the International Society of Business, Economics, and Ethics (ISBEE), a worldwide professional association which, for nearly two decades, has focused on discussing the ethical dimension of economic, social and environmental issues affecting companies and businesses.
This time, Bilbao takes over from the Chinese city of Shanghai, which hosted the previous edition in 2016 of these "Olympics of Business Ethics".
Shanghai clearly has a lot to do with Bilbao's current positioning since it was invited to participate in the 2010 World Expo held in that great Chinese city as a result of Bilbao receiving the Lee Kuan Yew World City Prize, known as the "Nobel Prize for cities".
Both then and now, Bilbao continues to be a city strongly committed to human development as an inseparable part of economic and urban development.
That is why it is a great honour for us to host this major international event based on ethics and sustainability in the business world, which is aligned with Bilbao City Council's focus on those values which dignify us as a society and as a city, and which we include in Bilbao's Charter of Values, the first of its kind in the world.
Juan Mari Aburto. Mayor of Bilbao
