AimsToggle Navigation
Learning results (according to ANECA's Verified Memory):
- to know the different applications of power electronics.
- design and analyze power electronics systems.
- to enable students to simulate and implement power electronics
systems.
Degree competencies that are developed in the course to achieve these learning
outcomes:
TEE7 - Applied knowledge of power electronics.
General Competencies that are worked on:
C3 - Knowledge in basic and technological subjects, which enables them
to learn new methods and theories, and gives them the versatility to
adapt to new situations.
C4 - Ability to solve problems with initiative, decision making, creativity,
critical reasoning and to communicate and transmit knowledge, skills and
abilities in the field of Industrial Engineering, specific Electrical
Technology.
C5 - Knowledge to carry out measurements, calculations, appraisals,
valuations, appraisals, surveys, studies, reports, work plans and other
similar works.
TemaryToggle Navigation
1.-Introduction and previous knowledge.
2.- AC-DC rectifiers.
3.- AC-AC alternating voltage controllers.
4.- DC-DC converters.
5.- DC-AC inverters.
6.- Power Electronics Applications.
MethodologyToggle Navigation
The lectures will be used to expose in a systematic, orderly and as complete as
possible, the topics set out in the program of the course, as well as to resolve
any doubts raised by students, seeking to stimulate their interest and increase
their level of learning.
The CLASSROOM PRACTICES will be the necessary complement for the
assimilation of the theoretical concepts acquired in the master class, through
the practical development of case studies. Work will be done in small groups
encouraging the use of active methodologies.
In the LABORATORY PRACTICES, through the use of appropriate hardware
and software, different cases and practical problems will be developed and put
into practice, aiming at learning based on the resolution of automation
problems.

Continuous Assessment
Laboratory and continuous assessment:
40% Laboratory attendance
mandatory Laboratory reports: 10%
Directed assignments / Deliverable:
30% Laboratory reports: 10%
Directed assignments / Deliverable:
30% Laboratory reports: 10%
Directed assignments / Deliverable:
30% Laboratory reports: 30%
Final exam: 60%.
The exam will be divided into a theory part with a weight of 40% and two
problems with a weight of 60%.
In order to be able to average the different parts of the exam, it will be
necessary to obtain a grade higher or equal to 4 in the theory part and
that none of the problems has a grade lower than 3.
Final Evaluation
According to article 8.3, chapter II of the Regulations on Student Evaluation in
official undergraduate degrees, anyone who chooses the final evaluation
system must submit in writing to the faculty responsible for the subject the
waiver of continuous assessment, for which he/she will have a period of 9
weeks from the beginning of the course.
In this case, the evaluation will consist of two tests to be held on the same day
as the official examination:
• Final exam: 60%.
• Practical test in the laboratory: 40%.
Both the final exam and the practical test will be divided into a theory part with a
weight of 40% and a practical problem/exercise with a weight of 60%. In order
to obtain the average between the exam and the practical test, it will be
necessary to obtain a grade higher or equal to 4 in both parts of theory and in
the problem and practical test.
If the student does not take the exam in the Ordinary Examination, he/she will
obtain the grade "NOT PRESENTED", regardless of his/her participation in the
activities developed throughout the course.
The grade obtained in the continuous evaluation will be kept for the
extraordinary exam.
In the case of students with functional diversity, the procedure will be in
accordance with art. 68 of the Statutes of the UPV/EHU.
During the evaluation tests, the protocol on academic ethics and prevention of
dishonest or fraudulent practices in evaluation tests and academic work at the
UPV/EHU will be taken into account.
