Gutiérrez Ortiz, Miguel Angel

He received the Master in Chemistry in 1978 at the University of Bilbao and PhD degree in Chemical Sciences in 1983 at the University of the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibersitatea (UPV/EHU). Since 1993, he is Professor of Chemical Engineering at the UPV/EHU.

He is part of the research group "Chemical Technologies for Environmental Sustainability, TQSA". His research activity has been centered in the development of catalytic technologies applied to the emission control, and currently he is involved in the production and purification of hydrogen for fuel cells. In these research lines he has led several projects of the national R&D&I program.

He is authors of numerous articles in internationally recognized journals and in has supervised many PhD students. He has also participated in projects and contracts with different chemical companies.

His teaching activity takes place in the Bachelor and Master of Chemical Engineering degrees. He has supervised final degrees projects both to Bachelor and Master students.

In the area of academic management, he was Vice-rector for Research at the UPV/EHU (2004-2013). In that period, he has led various projects related to the policies of research and technology transfer.
