Aranzabal Maiztegi, Asier
(Associate Professor)
Abbreviated CV
I am Degree (1994) and PhD (2000) in Chemistry from the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU. From 2007, I am Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering of the Faculty of Science and Technology (UPV/EHU) where I teach subjects in Bachelor and Master of Chemical Engineering: Numerical Methods, Process Engineering, and Advanced Optimization. Previously, I have taught subjects in other programs of the Schools of Industrial Engineering (E.S.T. de Ingenieros Industriales de Bilbao y E.U. Ingeniería Técnica Industrial San Sebastian). I have also participated as lecturer in postgraduate courses in collaboration with the Basque Energy Agency (EVE) and Udako Euskal Unibertsitatea (UEU).
I collaborate with the Educational Advisory Service (SAE-HELAZ) of the UPV/EHU in the training of university staff in active teaching and learning methodologies, mainly Problem and Project Based Learning.
I am a member of the research group "Chemical Technologies for Environmental Sustainability" in the Dpt. of Chemical Engineering in the Faculty of Science and Technology at the UPV/EHU, in which I focus my research work on catalysts for the purification of industrial off-gases. I am currently focusing on catalyst research to eliminate pollutants (nitrogen oxides and dioxins) produced in municipal solid waste incineration plants.
My research experience includes articles in high impact international journals (see links above), a patent and in doctoral training (supervisor of 2 PhD). I have also participated as responsible or collaborator competitive public research projects and also in contracts with industries in the chemical sector. I regularly attend national and international conferences in the field of catalysis and teaching innovation.
I am currently the coordinator of the 2nd grade in Bachelor of Chemical Engineering of the Tutorial Action.
