The Central Analysis Service of Bizkaia of SGIker  incorporates to its offer the technique MALDI Imaging (MSI). MSI is an excellent technique for the study of the distribution of lipids in biological tissues.

This technique allows you to locate and identify different classes of lipids without "a priori" selection of the chemical or compound family. Since it does not require a preliminary selection of compounds to be analyzed, it is possible to generate anatomical images from the ions detected in the mass spectrometer. It also allows histological correlation of molecular phenotypes and the correlation of the molecular signals for clinical purposes. MSI is as well a very powerful tool for cancer researching.
