SGIker takes part in the XVI International Forum on Evaluation of the Quality of Research and Higher Education (FECIES), held in Santiago de Compostela (May 29th-31st, 2019) (2019/06/10)

Maribel Arriortua Marcaida, Director of the General Research Services (SGIker) and Fátima Pastor Ruiz, technician of the Sciencetometrics Unit of the SGIker, attended the XVI FECIES Forum, from May 29th to 31st, 2019, organized by the Universities of Granada, La Coruña and Vigo, together with the Spanish Association of Behavioral Psychology, and held at the San Martin Pinario Monastery in Santiago de Compostela, with the participation of representatives of official research evaluation bodies, as well as members of national and international universities.
In this forum they had the opportunity to know, first hand, the problems of universities in their processes of attracting talent, positioning in the rankings, accreditation and quality of teaching and research; as well as the presentation of a new bibliometric indicator to measure the leadership of the research staff, the hα, and the activities that are part of the new sexenio of transfer of the research activity.
For the event, there have been the conferences, among others, of: Jorge Hirsch, physicist of the University of California San Diego, father of the h and hα indices; Salustiano Mato, Former Rector of the University of Vigo and Deputy Vice President of the Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities (CRUE), one of the promoters of the technological sexennium; and Demetrio Castro, former General Coordinator of the National Commission for the Evaluation of the Research Activity (CNEAI) and the National Agency for the Evaluation of Quality and Accreditation (ANECA).
In addition to attending the international FECIES meeting in which different topics were discussed related to the need to make contracting processes more flexible to incorporate research talent in universities, to encourage quality production and impact, and to increase the degree of internationalization of the students, SGIker participated by presenting three scientific posters; one on "Analysis of patents based on scientific literature generated with the support of the general research services (SGIker) of the UPV/EHU", another under the title "Where to publish and where not to publish"; and, a third, around "The General Research Services (SGIker) of the UPV/EHU promote the generation of scientific vocations among primary school students".
