SGIker participates in the European Summer School for Scientometrics (ESSS) in Granada (2016/09/26)

Fatima Pastor, from Unit Scientometry of the General Research Services (SGIker) attended the European Summer School for Scientometrics (ESSS), held in Granada, from September 4th to 9th 2016. Organized by the University of Vienna, German center for Research and scientific Studies of Higher Education (DZHW), the Catholic University of Louvain and, this time, by the Research Group of the University of Granada, EC3, the course has been attended by leading experts in bibliometrics databases and international scientific production (WOS and Scopus).
In addition to exhibits on various essential aspects of bibliometrics (impact indicators, cleaning and data processing, thematic standardization, disambiguation of names and affiliations, coauthorship, etc ..), issues such as alternative metrics or how to measure the social impact of research were also discussed. As part of the course, attended by fifty people from 21 different countries (Europe, North America, Russia and South Korea) also were held working sessions with the BibExcel, Pajek and Gephi programs, specific for analysis and graphic presentation of bibliometric data.
