She holds a Bachelor's degree in Medicine (UPV/EHU, 1983) and doctorate in Social Anthropology (University of Barcelona, 1993). Specialist in Euskal Kulturgintzaren Transmisioa (Basque Culture Transmission, Mondragon University, 2012). Doctor in Family Planning (1983-1996). Professor of Social Anthropology: University of León (1994-1996), Public University of Navarre (1996-1998), UPV/EHU (since 1998).
In charge of the Doctorate's degree in Feminist and Gender Studies (UPV/EHU) (2009-2023); Chair of the Department of Philosophy of Values and Social Anthropology (2005-2013). In charge of the Master's degree in Feminist and Gender Studies (2008-2014).
She heads the AFIT-Feminist Anthropology Research Group, in the Basque university system, since 2013.
She has advised/co-advised on 26 doctoral theses. 15 research projects, of which, in 10 she has been principal researcher. Author/co-author of numerous publications: 13 books, 3 monographs, 50 book chapters, 36 articles, editor 13 books. Among her books, two stand out: Antropología del cuerpo and Crítica del pensamiento amoroso (Edicions Bellaterra). 65 invited presentations. 4 six-year terms (CNEAI). Felds of research: health and gender, body and image; romantic love, gender relations.
Theoretical-methodological perspectives: feminist anthropology and anthropology of the body and of emotions.
