Dr. Alfredo García-Arribas is currently full professor at the Universidad of País Vasco UPV/EHU, after several years with the University of Oviedo, Spain, and having enjoyed research visits with the University of Washington, Seattle, WA, USA (1999), and Cranfield University, Cranfield, U.K. (2000). He got his PhD degree at the Universidad del País Vasco in 1996, devoted his PhD to the study of the properties of electrodeposited amorphous magnetic materials. His current research activity is focused in the application of magnetic materials in micro-sensors and actuators, in particular, those based on magneto-impedance, magneto-elasticity, and magnetic shape memory alloys. He is also involved in the research of nanostructures (vortex-state nanodiscs) for biomedical applications.
He has authored more than 130 scientific articles (h-index=30). He has supervised 5 PhD Thesis and participated in numerous research projects with national (Spanish) and regional (Basque) funding. He has co-edited the proceedings of the EMSA Conference in four editions (2006, 2012, 2014, 2018). He served as chair of the Spanish Chapter of IEEE Magnetics Society and is currently the Director of the Master on New Materials.
