Full professor in Electronic Technology Department, University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU), Bilbao, Spain. He received the M. Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial Engineering from UPV/EHU, in 1984 and 1989, respectively. He has authored over 100 journal and conference papers. He has worked in more than 25 European, Spanish, and Basque Government Projects. In addition, he has worked in more than 30 projects with companies and participated in the foundation of two companies.

He currently leads the Electronic Design Research Group. His main projects focus on electronics for railways, energy and planes. His research interests include wired and wireless industrial communications, processing system with programmable logic devices, panel solar monitoring, structural health monitoring, sensor conditioning, energy harvesting, and embedded systems.
