Ana García Prieto graduated in physics and received her doctor degree in physics from the Universidad del País Vasco (UPV/EHU) in 1998 and 2003, respectively. Between 2005-2007 she completed a postdoctoral stay at the London Centre for Nanotechnology (University College London, UK). Since 2008 she is an associate professor of the Applied Physics I Department at the UPV/EHU Faculty of Engineering in Bilbao.
Her research field focusses on the structural and magnetic study of magnetic nanostructures, especially with synchrotron radiation techniques, and their potential biomedical applications. Currently she is studying magnetite nanoparticles synthesized by magnetotactic bacteria.
